The aim of this project was to combine hand-painted elements by the youngest pupils with a stylised depiction of the surrounding bushland of the school.
The smooth cement-rendered surface of the walls lent itself perfectly to painting the background and then bonding-on the prepared discs, which were painted by the children in the classroom, facilitated by Robin and assisted by their teachers.
Robin also prepared in his studio 22 realistic images of native creatures on larger discs. These were applied throughout the painted background in the same way as the children’s paintings.
Students in the older classes were also facilitated to paint in circles directly on the painted brickwork of the stairway retaining walls.
Finally the whole wall was given a double-coating of UV and anti-graffiti clear protection.
